New Fish Houses at Outlet Recreation
Every new fish house in stock at Outlet Recreation’s Fargo, Detroit Lakes, and Clearwater stores is on this page, current model years with full factory warranty, the latest floorplans and features, and the choice of options that only a new unit offers.
New fish houses qualify for the longest financing terms and the lowest rates, and manufacturer incentives change through the season, so the price on the listing is the place to start, not the last word. Use the Get Best Deal button on any unit for a current quote from the store that has it.

What a wheelhouse fish house is
A fish house, also called a wheelhouse or ice house, is an insulated, heated trailer with a hydraulic or crank-down frame that lowers the body flat onto the ice. Fishing holes are cut through the floor with covers and lights, and most modern houses are built to RV standards with a furnace, a kitchenette, bunks, and a bathroom, so they work as a camper from spring through fall and as a heated ice shelter all winter.
This is one of the largest fish house selections in the region, with Ice Castle as the anchor brand alongside Cherokee, Forest River, and Glacier, in both new and used condition across all three stores.
How to choose a fish house
Size drives everything. A 6.5 x 14 or 8 x 16 house sleeps two to four and tows behind most half-ton trucks; 8 x 21 and larger models add a full kitchen, a separate bedroom, and a bathroom but need a heavier tow vehicle and more room on the ice. Count the holes and check their placement, houses aimed at serious anglers put holes down both sides with rattle reels above each one.
Look at the frame (hydraulic frames lift and lower with a switch; crank frames are simpler and lighter), the furnace BTU rating, insulation thickness, and whether the house is RV-certified so it can be financed and insured like a camper. Toy-hauler fish houses with a rear ramp let you bring a snowmobile or ATV inside.
- Sleeping capacity and bunk layout: dinette conversions versus dedicated beds.
- Hole count and rattle-reel setup for the way you fish.
- Hydraulic versus crank frame, and axle rating for your tow vehicle.
- Furnace size and tank heaters for below-zero nights.
- Bathroom, water system, and 12V/solar for off-grid weekends.
Getting it on the ice
Wheelhouses travel on their own axles and hook up like any trailer. Check ice thickness and local guidance before driving out, use extendable ramps and blocking to keep the house level, and bank snow around the skirting to hold heat. Our service departments in Fargo and Detroit Lakes handle frame, furnace, and electrical work in the off-season so the house is ready when first ice comes.

Frequently asked questions
Do new fish houses come with a warranty?
Yes. New units carry the manufacturer’s factory warranty, and extended service plans are available through the finance office at delivery.
Can I order a new fish house that is not in stock?
Yes. If the floorplan or configuration you want is not on the lot, any of the three stores can quote a factory order from the brands we carry.
What size fish house do I need?
For two anglers on weekend trips, a 6.5 x 14 to 8 x 16 house is plenty and tows behind a half-ton truck. Families and groups who want a full kitchen, separate bedroom, and bathroom should look at 8 x 17 through 8 x 21 and larger models, which need a heavier tow vehicle.
Can a fish house be used as a camper in the summer?
Yes. Most houses on this page are built to RV standards with a furnace, kitchenette, bunks, and often a bathroom, so they work as a travel trailer from spring through fall and as a heated ice shelter in winter.
